The Azencross is the Christmas-week race in Loenhout, a village in the north of the province of Antwerp, and it is held between Christmas and New Year. It began in 1984 as a race during the village fair. Loenhout gave cyclocross the 'wasbord' (washboard), a run of small bumps built from surplus soil, and its course through the village, with a bridge and ditches, is often deep in mud. Roland Liboton won the first edition, and Mathieu van der Poel's sixth win in 2025 drew him level with Sven Nys's record. The 2022 race was a three-way fight in horrible conditions between Van der Poel, Wout van Aert and Tom Pidcock, and after Van der Poel made a mistake in the mud on the last lap, Van Aert won the sprint. In 2025 two punctures ended Van Aert's challenge. It is one of the fixed points of the Belgian Christmas season.
