The Berencross is raced at Ter Borcht, the old castle domain of Meulebeke in West Flanders, on a classic Flemish lap that starts and finishes around the football pitch. The course is quick, with long straights and grass, but tight corners, a set of stairs and the short, steep banks the locals call the bergjes break it up and reward riders who can accelerate again and again. Mathieu van der Poel won the first edition in 2016, in only his second race back from knee surgery, and won again in 2017 and 2018. Michael Vanthourenhout then won three times, in 2019, 2021 and 2022. In October 2025 Joran Wyseure attacked on the penultimate lap and held off Laurens Sweeck by four seconds for a Crelan–Corendon one-two, with Vanthourenhout third. Held in mid-October, it is one of the first Belgian crosses where the winter's form is tested.
