Gent–Wevelgem Women is a hard cobbled Classic run through Flanders Fields, over the old First World War battlegrounds. First held in 2012, it climbs the Kemmelberg, crosses the unpaved Plugstreets and exposes the bunch to brutal crosswinds on the open plains. It suits powerful riders who can sprint, sitting somewhere between a bunch-finish race and a Classic for the strong. In 2026 Lorena Wiebes won it for a record third year in a row, confirming her command of the race. When the wind picks up across the flat roads it becomes one of the most chaotic days of the spring. The Kemmelberg always has the final say on who survives.
