The Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec is one of North America's two WorldTour one-day races, run on a hilly circuit through the old streets of Québec City. First held in 2010, it laps a short, punchy course with the climb of the Côte de la Montagne and a finish on the Grande Allée, terrain that suits classics riders and fast puncheurs. Michael Matthews has won it three times, more than anyone. It comes as a pair with the harder Grand Prix de Montréal a few days later, the two races that bring the world's best to Canada each September. The repeated climbing keeps it honest without ever quite splitting the bunch. It is a rare top-level race on this side of the Atlantic.
