The Koppenbergcross is raced on the Koppenberg in Oudenaarde, the narrow cobbled climb made famous by the Tour of Flanders, and it has been held on All Saints' Day since 1988. Each lap climbs the cobbles and drops back down through the steep farm fields beside them, and in the rain those fields turn to deep mud and the climb becomes a run. Sven Nys holds the record with nine wins, and Wout van Aert and Eli Iserbyt each won three in a row, Iserbyt's third coming in heavy rain and cold in 2021. In 2023 Thibau Nys, aged 20 and in his first winter as a professional, rode clear on a muddy course to give the family its tenth win on the hill, and he won again in 2025. It opens the Trofee and is one of the hardest days of the early season.
