La Vuelta Femenina is the youngest of the women's grand tours and already one of the hardest, built around brutal Spanish mountaintop finishes. It took its current standalone form in 2023 and quickly became a race for the pure climbers, decided on slopes like the Lagunas de Neila and the Angliru. Annemiek van Vleuten and Demi Vollering have each won it twice, trading the red jersey through the race's early editions. The climbing is relentless and the leadership can change hands on any summit. In 2026 Paula Blasi turned the race on its head on the final day, taking the overall on the Angliru in one of the great closing-stage upsets. Few races punish a bad day as quickly.
