Paris–Nice is the Race to the Sun, the stage race that carries the peloton from the grey of the Paris basin down to the Mediterranean each March. First run in 1933, it opens the European season and serves as an early measure of Grand Tour form, decided on the climbs above Nice and often in wild spring weather. Sean Kelly won it a record seven times in a row in the 1980s, a streak that still defines the race. The mix of crosswind stages, summit finishes and a closing day in the hills above the coast makes it a proper all-rounder's test. In 2026 Jonas Vingegaard controlled the race to win overall. It remains one of the most prestigious week-long races on the calendar.
