The women's Plage Cross brings the field back to the beach of the Hofstade lake in Zemst, where women raced in the Kersttrofee Hofstade in the 2000s, when it was a World Cup round. Hanka Kupfernagel of Germany won three times in that era, and Daphny van den Brand also won more than once. The course is mostly flat, so the sand decides it, on the beach sections and the soft ground near the water, and it rewards riders who can keep their speed through them. When the race came back on 22 December 2025, Lucinda Brand made her decisive push through the softest sections on the second lap and rode away from everyone, with Shirin van Anrooij second and Manon Bakker third. It was Brand's 13th win of that season. The race is young again in its new form, and it gives the women's Trofee a sand race in the Christmas period.
