The Jaarmarktcross, the annual fair cross, has been held in Niel, a town on the Rupel river south of Antwerp, on 11 November every year since 1963, so it always falls on Armistice Day, a public holiday in Belgium. The course is compact and varied, with sand, heavy patches of mud, a very steep descent and short climbs including the steep bank known as the Wall of Niel. Sven Nys holds the record with six wins, and the race belonged to other competitions, the Gazet van Antwerpen trophy among them, before joining the Superprestige in 2020. Since then Laurens Sweeck has won it four times. In 2024 he attacked from the start and won alone, and in 2025 he came round Niels Vandeputte in the final metres to win the photo finish by the width of a tyre. Raced midweek on a holiday, it is one of the fixed points of the November calendar.
