Tirreno–Adriatico is the Race of the Two Seas, crossing Italy from the Tyrrhenian coast to the Adriatic over a week each March. First run in 1966, it runs at the same time as Paris–Nice and offers the other great early-season test of Grand Tour form. The route climbs steep Apennine summit finishes before a flat closing time trial on the Adriatic, and the winner lifts a distinctive trident trophy. Roger De Vlaeminck holds the record with six straight wins in the 1970s. In 2026 Isaac del Toro took the overall, a strong sign of his rising form. It is the spring stage race the climbers and all-rounders most enjoy.
