The Tour of Chongming Island is the great sprinters' race of the women's calendar, run on the pan-flat roads of an island near Shanghai. First held in 2007, it offers almost no climbing, which makes it a rare stage race built entirely around bunch finishes and lead-out trains. The fastest women in the world target it, and Lorena Wiebes once won every stage in a single edition. It is the only top-level women's race in China and one of the last events of the WorldTour season. The flat terrain keeps the overall close and the sprints ferocious. For the pure sprinters it is the highlight of the autumn.
