The Tour of Guangxi closes the men's WorldTour season each October in southern China. First held in 2017, it is mostly a sprinters' race, run on flat stages through the karst scenery around Guilin, with the overall decided on its one real climb, the summit finish at Nongla. No rider has yet won it twice, a reflection of how much the result depends on that single mountain day. The race brings the top teams to China for the final week of the year. For the sprinters it is a last chance at a WorldTour win before the off-season. It marks the quiet end of the long racing calendar.
