World Cup Namur, the Citadelcross, is raced on the steep hillsides below the citadel of Namur in Wallonia, and it is one of the most technical courses of the season. The lap climbs and plunges down the citadel slopes, crosses cobbled sections and traverses off-cambers that become treacherous in the wet, and it is often compared to a mountain-bike course. It was first held in 2009 and joined the World Cup in the 2011–12 season. In 2023 Tom Pidcock dropped his chain early, rode through the field and still won despite a flat tyre on the last lap. In December 2025 Mathieu van der Poel made his season debut here, and when Thibau Nys, who had led on the penultimate lap, made a small mistake, he rode clear for his sixth Namur win. A win on the citadel needs skill as much as strength.
