The women open the evening at World Cup Ostrava, racing under floodlights at Dolní Vítkovice, a former mining and ironmaking complex that closed in 1998 and has been on UNESCO's tentative World Heritage list since 2001. It is the first World Cup race at the site and the only true night race of the series. The course weaves through the old industrial buildings with the blast furnaces as a backdrop, past a flight of steel stairs that must be climbed on foot and a deep sand pit in the middle of the works, so strong runners and riders at ease in loose ground should do well. Czechia's national champion, Kristýna Zemanová, was second at Hoogerheide in January 2026. The first winner here will set the standard for one of the most distinctive settings in the sport.
