Tábor is Czechia's great cyclocross venue, a purpose-built course at the Komora sports area in southern Bohemia that has staged World Cup rounds since the 1990s and four World Championships. The lap runs over the slopes of the sports ground, so the crowd sees most of it, and when the ground freezes its descents and off-cambers become a test of nerve. In 2010 Zdeněk Štybar went clear early on an icy course to win the world title in front of his home fans. Five years later Mathieu van der Poel, aged 20, became the youngest elite world champion, holding off Wout van Aert, who had fought back after a heavy crash. Van der Poel took a sixth rainbow jersey here in 2024, and Thibau Nys won the 2025 World Cup on frozen, slippery ground. It is a course that crowns world champions.
