The Brussels Universities Cyclocross is raced on the adjoining campuses of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Université libre de Bruxelles in Ixelles, and the riders on the podium are given graduation caps. When it was first held in January 2019, it was the first cyclocross in the Brussels region in almost thirty years. The course winds across the campus lawns and the slopes between the university buildings, with short climbs over the terraces and plenty of tight turns. Mathieu van der Poel won the first two editions, and Michael Vanthourenhout holds the record with three wins, the latest in 2026 on a snow-covered course. In 2021, also in snow and ice, Toon Aerts punctured and was caught by Quinten Hermans, then attacked again on an off-camber section to win by 20 seconds. It closes the Trofee, and the overall winner is crowned there.
