The women's Waaslandcross has been held at De Ster since 2014 and has largely belonged to Sanne Cant, who won the first edition and four in all, and Lucinda Brand, who holds the record with five. The flat, fast lap has sand strips, log barriers and a climb through the amphitheatre, and the gaps are usually small. In 2023 Annemarie Worst, Brand and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado rode clear together, and when Alvarado and Brand failed to work together two laps from the end, Worst rode away for a win that brightened a season of bad luck. Brand has won the three editions since. In February 2026 she closed down an attack by the Belgian champion Marion Norbert-Riberolle and dropped Inge van der Heijden on the last lap for her first win in the rainbow jersey. In recent seasons it has been the series finale, and the last three have ended with Brand on the top step.
