World Cup Hoogerheide is the Grand Prix Adrie van der Poel, raced in the home village of the 1996 world champion and first held in 2000 as his farewell race. Adrie designed the course along the Scheldeweg, which mixes meadow, woodland and the steep bank of the Brabantse Wal. It usually closes the World Cup and hosted the World Championships in 2009, 2014 and 2023. In 2014 Zdeněk Štybar and Sven Nys traded attacks and crashes before Štybar pulled away on the last lap. In 2023 Mathieu van der Poel followed Wout van Aert for the whole race and beat him in the sprint for his fifth world title. Mathieu has won his father's race eight times, and in 2026 he set the World Cup wins record here with his 51st. It is the last big test before the World Championships, on the course the Van der Poel family built.
